Show Circleville Man Named To State Dairy Board The newly organized Utah Dairymen's Association provides diarymen of Utah with a united voice on matters that affect their welfare, according to Dale P. Bateman, dairyman from West Jordan, president. Gale Whitaker of Circleville was elected trustee at the recent organizational meeting to represent dairy interests in Piute, Wayne, Sevier and Garfield. John Barnard, Utah State University Extension dairyman, noted that formal organization of the Utah Dairyman's Association brings to reality the expressed desires of many dairymen throughout the state. They have felt that their industry has been too fragmented with various individuals and groups pressuring for their own in-t dividualized interests. The stated purpose in organizing has been to have an overall organization "to carry on and support activities and programs that wUT further and aid the prosperity of the dairy , industry, particularly with respect to the welfare of the milk producers of Utah." The Dairymen's Association aims to encourage and support needed research and educational activities to take the research results to dairyment, advocate and sponsor legislation to benefit milk producers and the milk industry, develop economic data, prepare and present testimony and. other such Information as appropriate, and carry out other activities not in violation of laws or regulations that will foster advancement and coordination of the dairy industry. Barnard commented, "Because of the coordination that it can provide, I feel that this organization can benefit existing dairy organizations, cooperatives and individual dairymen. Those desiring to be a part of this organization may look to their local representatives for further information." |
