Show Escalante Chit Chat Fay Alvey R2S-Z43I Thus far, April has been colder and had more storms than December and January. Well, maybe the ice is not quite as thick on the water troughs. Most of the sick are holding their own. Ernie Griffin is having difficulty breathing so LaVern and Mary took him to Panguitch to the doctor. Clyde Spencer is still feeling rugged. They had son J.C. and wife, Opal home for the weekend. The Normans, John, Debbie, Monice and Jana Lee, Becky and Elton Casleman went to Salt Lake City to visit DeLynn and bring Yukon home for a rest. Becky will stay awhile. Hilo Boyce went north and had his other eye operated on. He was doing okay, so family members brought them home on the weekend. Helen Shurtz flew back to Michigan to visit David Hay and family who had a baby boy. Verge and Shirley Spencer and Tammy spent the weekend in Kingston at the Gene Sud-weeks. The Spencers have a grandson born to Marion and Peggy. On the subject of babies, the birth of a girl in Boise, Idaho made grandparents of ReNae and Sherman Bundrant and a great-grandmother of me. She is Sariah Alveys second greatgrandchild. Starns and Fon Media m are home after visiting son, Ranald and family in Las Vegas, They helped with the christening of their new grandson who was given the name of Douglas, Melvin and Judy Brooks, Theron and Dixie Mitchell and Lane and Geraldine Lislon spent the weekend in Las Vegas. Wade Barney went to Richfield to apply for the job here on the state road maintenance crew. He got it so he will work with Freeland Alvey and Klyn Haws. Monday morning every available man and truck and horses went to continue the search for Dr. Kazan. Ben and Renee Porter came from Provo to start their garden at the Blake Robinsons but it rained and snowed most of the time. Ben figures more rain, more rest. Marie Griffin visited at the Rol Porter home. She brought her daughter, Marlene, granddaughter, Anna, and they each had a friend so it was quite a change for Rol and Mlna. Ronald and Sherrie Beebe and family went to Beaver to visit her mother who is ill. Dennis and Pauline Lott moved into their new home out in the lane leading to the desert fields. Chuck and Koleen Wayne went to Salt Lake City to see daughter, Dorothy and her new son. Ott and Hilda Roundy spent the weekend in Monroe. The Lorenzo Griffins had son, Lewis, and part of his family here to help with the spring cleanup. Pratt and Areola Gates and family went to Salt Lake City. Vernon and Margcne Stowe had business there and went to West Jordan to visit his mother, Myrtle Gates. Beth and Evadean Liston and Patrice Griffin were home for the weekend. Evadean stayed home. She said the reason for her extended stay up north was to help Jim and Lola Alvey move from a duplex apartment into a trailer house. Dale Marsh had business meetings in Cedar City and Tropic. Dicey Coombs had daughter Glenna Banks and two girls here from Iowa for a weeks visit. Wayne Banks came for the funeral services of Mr. Coombs then went back north to visit his father. Dicey also had son, Owen Porter and part of his family here. The Woolseys, Arden, Wally and Darlene were here from Cedar City. A successful and well attended PTA meeting was held Friday night at the high school gym. Several skits were presented. The grade school chorus sang two numbers. Talks were given by Sherrill Lamb, Elaine Rowley and Dabs Neal. Some of the more active ones tried square dancing. The theme of the whole thing was against vandalism and profanity. The Tom Sandborns and Barbara MacKelvey spent a weekend in Salt Lake City. Rex and Eva Allen and Ruth Alvey made it back home okay . They brought Twila Mclnelly home with a cold. The new bank is scheduled to open May 1st with David Adams in charge. He and his family are moving into the Cottam home where he can keep an eye on the money. Bill and Beverly Kuhnf were here from California visiting the Reeders who have moved into their new home. Sunday was high council day and some brethern could not make the assignment so Greg Vidrine took his place. The other speakers were Chase Shurti and Usher Spencer. Usher sang and was accompanied by Dawn Griffin. Don't growl about the weather, if the wind blows cold and hard it means we have to stay indoors, too cold to work in the yard. |
