SF FCCLA attends State Convention Paige Sanford and Andrea De Paz SFHS State Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) officer Amberly Larsen was awarded a scholarship for her interest in the field of family and consumer science education. The requirements needed for this scholarship were her participation in FCCLA for two years, fill out an application and be interviewed as well. She has proven her leadership skills through her hard work and dedication. She was one of the four candidates that received this prestigious scholarship. Sisters Katie and Annie Morris received second place in their project called "Star Events Students Taking Action with Recognition." This project was to promote and publicize FCCLA. It received many awards, including the silver medal in state and the bronze for region. "It was lots of fun and a good experience for us," Katie said. Though they wished they could've gone to nationals, they were happy that they participated in this project. "It was a good experience being in front of the judges," Annie said. Lindsay B. Wolsey STAFF W R I T E R For as long as she can remember, agriculture has played an important part in Chaleesa Warren's life. A senior at Spanish Fork High School, she was selected to be the 2009-10 Agriculture Sterling Scholar. She was also recently elected State FFA President. "I've always been involved in agriculture through my family," Warren said. "We have a farm in Mapleton, so I've grown up around agriculture. It's something I fell in love with." As soon as Warren was able to join Future Fanners of America (FFA) she did, serving as Stock Show Committee Chairman, Secretary and Vice President. She has taken advantage of many opportunities offered through FFA, including scholarships. In December she filled out an application to run for state office. After interviewing at the state convention. Warren was selected as president for the state FFA organization. As president she will organize state functions and rep-, resent Utah at any national functions. Warren has received the Western Agriculture Credit scholarship and plans to become an agricultural educator. "With my pumpkin patch Fve been able to teach preschoolers where the food comes from, and help them understand it. Seeing that click for little kids is just so neat for me," Warren said.
