Show enttnel B6 • WEDNESDAY, MARCH 3 1 , 2010 Guardian of Your Community News MMHS Prep PREP OF THE WEEK: This week's Maple Mountain High School Prep of the Week is # 2 1 , Riley Flinders, centerfielder for the Golden Eagles baseball team. He is a key asset to the team, as he showed in Mesquite by going 8 for 14 in the tournament. He had a game tying triple with the bases loaded in the 7th inning to tie the game at 3, which catapulted Maple Mountain into the championship game. Riley's expectations for the team are to make it to the state tournament. Riley is a great baseball player and he more than deserves the MMHS Prep of the Week honors. MMHS Career Elleves tour in Florida The Maple Mountain High School Elleves recently returned from a performance tour to Orlando, Florida. The Elleves performed on the Plaza Stage at Universal Studios and at the Waterside Stage in Downtown Disney at Disney World. The Elleve's performed a non-stop 20 minute show with a variety of routines including: jazz, military and hip hop. The team drew quite a crowd at both of their performances. Their Disney stage manager commented that the Elleves were the first group he had seen with such precision and showmanship! It was a performance that he was not going to forget for a long time. The Elleves were presented with a plaque from Universal Studios and a Mickey Mouse trophy from Disney World for their crowd-pleasing performances! The team also participated in a dance workshop taught by a Disney choreographer. The workshop was set up as an audition. They learned three routines from Disney World shows and had a surprise visit from Goofy. While in Florida, the Elleve's had the opportunity to see the Cirque du Soleil pro- duction of a La Nouba". The show name La Nouba originates from the French phrase "faire la nouba," which means to party, to live it up. It is a world where dreams and reality intertwine as the urban and circus worlds meet on stage blending acrobatics, dazzling choreography, whimsical characters and live music. The Elleves have enjoyed a great year and the Florida Tour was a great way to celebrate their success as a firstyear team. The Elleves are under the direction of Molly M. Brenchley and Marci Hite.
