Show Page 16 THE OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Volume VI, Issue III May 15, 2002 It’s AYSO Soccer Registration Time! As we finish the spring season for soccer, we are also finishing the registration process for the upcoming Fall 2002/Spring 2003 season. Since our region has well over 400 players, the process of getting everyone signed up becomes a long and tedious process if parents hesitate to get paperwork signed and submitted. This past year, nearly half of our players signed up late. To clear up any questions on registration, and in an effort to make it easier for our region to assist the residents of the Valley, please understand the following: The soccer season consists of two periods of play, Fall (SeptemberOctober) and Spring (April-May). Everyone must register in the Spring for next season. If you wish to play only in spring or fall, you must still register, and specify which period you will be playing. This allows our region to place all players on teams, and arrange for uniforms, coaches, etc. Fees include a required $10.50 to AYSO National Headquarters for insurance and soccer publications. The remaining portion stays here locally to cover player uniform costs, field supplies (paint for lines, nets, line machines, corner flags), office supplies (paper, envelopes, flyers, postage), coach supplies (soccer balls, manuals, clinics), referee supplies (shirts, manuals, clinics, flags, whistles), and more. All positions within AYSO are volunteer positions—including the registration agent. Considerable time is spent to collect and submit the required information. Therefore, we are asking for your help. If you missed the four advertised dates, and your player has played this past season (Fall/Spring), a pre-printed form will be mailed to you. This form must be updated with changes, signed, and returned with payment before May 24, 2002 to avoid late fees. If the form is not returned, we will consider the player as non-returning. Blank forms will be available at Valley Market for new sign-ups. All forms must be returned to ensure a spot on a team. Any late registrations will be placed on a waiting list unless you are new to the area. We want your children to join us for AYSO Soccer! It is one sport that has a great return for the cost, and the entire family can join in. Schoolmates and neighbors can get to know each other better. Sign your players up . . . today!
