It is so beautiful outside it just fills my heart with joy. But there is a problem with it. Spring weather also fills the air with energy. Energy brings false hope, hope I can move faster and easier than ever. Therefore, I tend to over plan in the spring—more than usual. What is it with over planning? Every thing sounds so fun. Learning new things, spending time with friends, working in the garden, cleaning, talking, eating, etc. We are so blessed to have so many choices, yet we don’t have enough time to utilize them all. Each day I realize, more and more, that life is getting shorter and shorter. Time seems to fly by these days! So how do we keep our bodies up with our minds? One way is to keep your planning under control. What I mean is, be careful about what you plan. I pledge each day that I will design my day so that it’s not crazy, yet I end up a little crazier each day. I have a Franklin Planner and it even has time lines. I allow what I think is ample time to do what I need to do, and I still can’t keep up with my schedule. So then I add extra time to do each task, but this doesn’t work either because I know that I allowed plenty of time so I make allowances for this, and plan even more! I think I have an over scheduling disease. It’s funny, when I’m having a good conversation with someone, reading a good book, learning new computer skills, etc. my schedule just becomes less and less important. Some say throw those schedules out the window, and just do what feels good to you. I would be in big trouble if I did this, and so would my family and friends. I would get with them and we would play, talk, create and just have a blast! What I usually do is, split my day doing some of what I want to do, and some of what I feel I need to do. I must admit though, some days I do just what I want to do, but those days are rare, and it’s usually on a day when I’m sick, and what I really want to do is just stay in bed—not very exciting I’m afraid. The way I look at it, each new day is ours to do with it, as we choose. Just make sure it really is your choice. And while you’re planning, plan to have some really great spring days, because summer will soon be here, and summer days just aren’t the same. So Happy Springing! Real to Reel Opens in Ogden Valley Located in Ogden Valley, a new onsite video and photography business called Real to Reel recently opened, offering a wide variety of photographic services. Its owners are Janet Cazier Hoffmann and Christy Cox. The company offers photography and videography for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, reunions, graduations, holidays, sporting events, recitals, or simple back yard parties. Portrait offerings include individual, group, and family sittings, as well as bridal, engagement, and wedding sittings. The company will also film at preschools and school dances, and can even create the very popular, “a day in the life of your child” video. With music and transitions, these personal videos combine the various activities in your child’s day, into a one mini-movie. It provides fun viewing entertainment for the child, as well as a priceless record of their child for parents. For example, Real to Reel recently filmed a mini-movie, capturing a young snowboarder at home getting his gear ready, hauling the equipment to the car, driving to the slopes, riding the lifts, taking in the local resort life, and flying off down the slopes. Similar filmings can be created for a beach day, dance lessons, sporting events, or any other day you can think of. You are only limited by your imagination. Real to Reel can also take your own video footage or photo prints, and edit and enhance them with music and transitions. Janet’s interest in video production began after purchasing her first video camera several years ago when her daughter left out of state for college. Janet made the trek too, recording some misty eyed moments to assuage her “cutting of the apron strings” grief. Since that maiden voyage, she has made many such pilgrimages. Janet’s children, tired of being stalked relentlessly by a camera, suggested Janet “focus” on photography as a business. They were secretly hoping she would find some new victims! Thus Janet began invading her friends’ and neighbors’ homes during the holidays, and at other events, recording those magical moments. Once she started adding music and transitions to the footage, she was hooked for good. Meanwhile, Janet’s partner Christy seems to have been taking photo shots for just about forever—family portraits, weddings and other special days. Her family has biannual photo shoots—photography runs in their genes, states Christy. Joining forces, the two are enjoying sharing their talents. They travel out of state and out of town for photo shoots, but their favorite sites and sights are still in Ogden Valley. Currently Janet and Christy are working on a movie that will premiere at a local 4th of July celebration later this year. This month Real to Reel is presenting an introductory offer at the Eden General Store to acquaint residents with their business.
