All children from infancy through five years of age, and their caregivers, are invited to attend for stories and learning activities. Children are introduced to books, music and art and participate in learning activities. Every Tuesday: The Weber County Commission meets at 9:00 a.m. at the Weber County Bldg., 2380 Washington Blvd., Ogden, except 2nd Tuesday when the Commission meets at 5:00 p.m. Every 2nd Tuesday: The Ogden Canyon Club meets at the Oaks restaurant in Ogden Canyon at 7:00 p.m. For more information call 392-8743. The Ogden Valley Branch Library will sponsor an “after school program” every Wednesday immediately following school at 3:45 p.m. All school-age kids are invited! Every 2nd Wednesday: The Liberty/Nordic Township Planning Commission meets at 5:00 p.m. at the Weber County Bldg. 2380 Washington Blvd., Ogden. Every 2nd Wednesday: Ogden Valley Translator/Recreation Special Service District meets at the Ogden Valley Library at 7:00 p.m. Every Thursday: Senior Meals at the Ogden Valley Community Room at the Ogden Valley Library at noon. $2.00 Seniors, $4.00 ages 59 and younger. Every Thursday: SCRAPBOOK NIGHT at Red Rock Ranch Outfitters. Bring your scrapbook, supplies and your ideas and join us for a night of cutting and sharing. The fun begins at 6:00 p.m., and ends around 9:00 p.m. Open to the public at no charge. Bring your instruments and join in, or just come and listen to our local talent. May 17: First Annual Red Rock Ranch gathering featuring Brenn Hill. Evening will begin at 6:00 p.m. with many musicians and poets. Dave Anderson and his guitar will be the opening act. Tickets are $15.00 for the concert. Three-day pass for the gathering will cost $40.00. There will be many unique gifts and western artist booths for people to visit at no cost. May 18: First annual Red Rock Ranch gathering featuring Baxter Black. Event begins at noon, with a matinee presenting many musicians and poets from all over, along with the Western Music Association. Beginning at 6:00 p.m., Terri & Steve Taylor will kickoff with the opening act. Tickets, $22.50 for the matinee and evening concert. A three day pass will be $40.00. May 19: First Annual Red Rock Ranch gathering. Beginning at 10 a.m., Cowboy Church open to the public. This will be followed by a Western singing and poetry festival, starting at noon, and continuing ‘till 7:00 p.m. Tickets for the entire day are $10.00. Three day pass, $40.00. May 21: Powder Mountain Rezone public hearing before the Weber County Planning Commission will be held on Tuesday, May 21 at 5:00 p.m. in the Weber County Commission Chambers. Plan on attending, and voicing your opinion regarding the petition to rezone Powder Mountain to allow for a major recreational resort. Comments may also be mailed to the Planning Commission Office before May 21. For more information contact a member of the Eden Planning Commission, or the Weber County Planning Office at 399-8791. May 21: Jon Williams will offer an intermediate photography workshop: Understanding Light and Other Photographic Essentials on two night, May 21st and May 23rd from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Eccles Community Art Center, 2580 Jefferson avenue, Ogden. You can listen, or bring your own instrument and join in. From 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. May 27: Memorial Day – No school. May 28: The St. Florence Catholic Church in Huntsville is once again sponsoring a community blood drive. May 29: A retirement Open House for Valley teachers will be held at the Ogden Valley Branch library on Wednesday, May 29, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. We would like the community to express their thanks and appreciation by writing a short note to them. You may send comments to the school, care of Lynne Graves, or you may bring them the night of the Open House. See article on page17. May 29: MOMS Club activity – Walk Ogden River Parkway. We’ll meet at the playground just west of the Dinosaur Park. In case of inclement weather, we’ll meet in front of Sears in the Newgate Mall. May 31: Watch and taste how a deep fried turkey and side dishes are prepared at a gourmet cooking class offered by Chef Craig Steinmetz at the Eccles Community Art Center, 2580 Jefferson avenue, Ogden. This class will be held outdoors on May 31st from 6 to 9 p.m. Class size is kept small, registration is limited to 15 participants. Tuition: $38 must be paid by May 21st. June 4: Would you like to learn more about water conservation and management? A Water Users’ Worskshop has been planned and scheduled for June 4, 2002 at Snowcrest Junior High. An openhouse will be held from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served. The workshop program will begin at 6:00 p.m., and will end at 9:00 p.m. June 4: The Utah Supreme Court will hear the Rulon Jones/Powder Mountain land sale case on June 4, 2002, at 9:00 a.m. at the Scott Matheson Court House, located in Salt Lake City on the southwest corner of State Street and 4th South. Public invited to attend to hear oral arguments. June 6: School is out for the summer! June 6: HISTORICAL VALLEY TOUR- Step back in time and visit the historic sites in our own back yard with a local historian. We will Start At 6 p.m. so we have a chance to see everything before dark.
