Show 16C The Summit County Bee My Friday, December-- 1 5; V1 989 Thoughts oh Christmas by Dennis nnd Lorraine Porter The Dennis Porter family was some of their us. Dennis with Christmas feelings and Lorraine live in Coalville with their two children, Valerie and Travis. The Porters have lived in Granger, Hunter, Ogden, Price, Sandy and now Coalville. Dennis grew up in Morgan and Lorraine grew up in Ogden. Lorraine was the spokesperson for the family. She said, "Dennis remembers when he and his sister and brother would get up at 3 a.m. I don't think this was his parent's idea. In fact, I'm sure they either didn't know or were too tired to midnight I heard sleigh bells quite clearly. I will never know whether I hKl a really wild imagination that night or whether Santa really was somewhere nearby in his sleigh. Sharing Christmas as a family is really special, especially when you have small children. We remember those Christmases when the kids were small Dennis and I would wake up really early and would be so excited we would go and wake the kids. It's funny how not many years later it was the kids waiting for us to get up. My most prized Christmas gifts have been those I have given away, care. especially to children. It's so fun to I remember lying in bed ion see their gratitude shine through Christmas Eve at age 17 and around their happy eyes and smiles. We get die Christmas spirit by lT9TtTT0Ttf7lTCt listening to our Christmas tapes 1 (sometimes we can hardly wait until after Halloween to start playing them). We watch our favorite to-sha- re Christmas shows, White Christ-willin- g mas, A Christmas Carol and the musical version of. the same show Scrooge and Miracle on 34th Street as often as we have the time for and we also watch the best Christmas specials on T.V. We decorate the tree and the whole house with tinsel and miniature lights, stockings and nativity scenes. It takes about two weeks or more to get all the decorating completed. Making Christmas goodies and taking them to friends and neighbors also adds to our Christmas spirit. AH of this, as well as everyone's happy loving and giving attitudes are what we love most about Christmas. One special Christmas Eve my and sisters and Dennis and I and our families went caroling at the McKay Hospital.
