Feb. 23. 1978 at the McKay-De- of e HE WAS born Feb. 24, 1963, Hospital m Ogden at Clark AFB., Philippine a heart ailment. Islands, a son of Johnnie S and Eloise Mattix Peters He has lived in the Philippine Islands for three months, Detroit, Mich for 10 months, Niagara Falls, New York for two years, Panama City, Fla , for one year; Key West, Fla , one year; Bristol, Ind , one year; Colorado Springs, Colo one year; Columbus, Ga , one year and Layton for six years HE WAS bom Aug 6, 1909 in Layton, a son of Richard and Alice Rose Parsons Scoffield. On May 23, 1935, he married Ethel Adams in Bountiful. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 11, 1965. MR. SCOFFIELD had been a journeyman plumber for Bachman Plumbing for 35 years before he retired in 1971 He was a member of the United Steam Fitters and Plumbers Union. In 1976, he was honored as Utah Craftsman of the Year tor Davis County. HE HAD lived in the Lay-to- n Kaysville area all his life Mr. Scoffield was a member of the Layton 16th LDS Ward. He was a past member of the West Layton Ward Sunday School superin-tendencHe had been a home teacher and active in scouting. SURVIVING are his widow of Layton; one son and two daughters, Capt. Gary A Scoffield, serving with the U S. Navy at Annandale, Va ; Mrs. Mark (Shauna) Hansen, Sunset; Mrs David (Susan) Stayner, Bountiful, 15 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren Also surviving are three brothers and five sisters, Syvil Scoffield, Washington Terrace; Maurice Scoffield, Mrs. Lillian Adams, Mrs Floyd (Bee) Neilsen, Layton, Charles A. Scoffield, Kaysville, Mrs Freda Edwards, Mrs Frank Germany; (Thera) Price, Garibaldi, Ore , Mrs Leland (Leone) Bennett, Farmington FUNERAL services were held Monday in the Layton Fast Stake Center with Bishop Keith X Brown officiating Family prayer was by Lorin E Bachman; prelude and postlude, Arlene S Thomas, musical selections by Harris Adams included Sometime and Youll Understand Somewhere My Love " Invocation, Syvil J. Ellison S HE WAS a ninth grade honor student at Central Davis Hansen, were Kurt Mathew D. Stayner, Scott S McGibbon, Sco- James Scoffield, Alan ffield, Randy Donald Wintle. I can feel the chill m the air as Dad is laid to rest, sheltered by the snow covered mountains to the east and overlooking the beautiful panorama of the lake and valley to the west. BUT THE picture Ill never forget is seeing Mom and Dad together waving from the pier as I put out to sea last fall from San Diego Also 1 remember the great times Dad and I had together with each other and all the family. Dad and EACH ONE of us only passes through this life here on earth once and in doing so, there are many experiences and things that only come by or happen once. I thank God that He blessed me with one wonderful father, Sam Scof- field, and one dear mother, Ethel. For this I will be eternally grateful Although Im not sitting next to you Mom, you can be certain that Im there in mind, heart and spirit. Kershaw officiating SHE DIED Tuesday, Feb 21, 1978 m a Clearfield nursing home of causes incident to age. Mrs. Bowen was bom April 16, 1885 in Kaysville, a daughter of Hyrum Joseph and Sarah Butcher Maylin. WAS married to Ulysses V. Nance on Nov. 17, 1904 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died Oct 20, 1921. She was married to Horatio F. Bowen on June J2, 1929 m the Salt Lake Temple. He died Oct 15, 1931 She was a lifelong resident of Kaysville and had been employed by Inland Printing Co. of Kaysville and Gotschall Printing Company of Salt Lake City.
