The Field House located across from the Rice Stadium. In addition to the HPER, Einar Neilsen Field House will be open for business fall quarter. The field house contains nine racquetball-handba- ll courts, four squash courts, five indoor tennis track, an courts, a exercise room containing Universal machines and dumbells and a sauna and whirlpool in each locker room. Since the field house will be strictly recreation, there will be more hours. From Mondays through Saturdays, the field house will open at 6 a.m. and close at 12 midnight. On Sundays the hours are 9 a.m. to 12 midnight. Besides the new field house, 10 new tennis courts are now avialable. Reservations for all 22 courts may be made either at the HPER Complex or the field house. Courts will usually be available on weekdays from 2 p.m. to 1 1 p.m. and 8 a.m. to 1 1 p.m. on weekednds. Also under the Informal Program is the Century Club for swimmers and joggers. The swimming club has as its levels of achievement 10, 30, 50 and 100 miles. In jogging, the levels are 100, 300, 500 and 1000 miles. Based completely on an honor system, miles are kept on cards available at the Recreation offices. Once an individual reaches one of the one-hou- levels, a certificate will be awarded for hisher is achievement. A rt also available indicating membership in the Century Club. The Intramural Program has a lineup of activities that can't be beat. Participation opportunities are offered for individual, team and dual sports for both men and women. Several of the activities are offered on a corecreational basis. Under the management of Mark Fletcher, coordinator of Intramurals, activities range from indoor tennis to canoe racing and superteam T-shi- expanded its inventory this year. They will be well stocked in sleeping bags, y backpacks and skis. But to make sure you get what you need, come in early during the week and make reservations. A $5 deposit and the full rental fee must be paid at this time. The Open Air Discovery Series will start up again this fall including rubber boat skills and equipment presentations. Rubber boat skills include information on running cross-countr- cross-count- ry your own raft trips, renting equipment for any float or Whitewater trip. Local sports stores will present their new skis for 1979 at an outdoor clinic. Also, equipment crossscheduled regularly so be will races held, country it will pay to get into shape early. A new area of Campus Recreation will be Sports Clubs. River trips, backpacking and skiing will be offered as part of the Outdoor Program for fall cross-countr- y Trips down quarter. Desolation and Westwater, Grays, and Alpine Canyon were popular during the summer quarter so repeated outings are likely for the fall. Don't let the cooler weather stop you from enjoying the outdoors. Wet suits are now available for rental by the Outdoor Program. Due to lack of space in their original location, the Outdoor Program moved this summer. Headed by Dave Becker, coordinator of Outdoor Programs, the office and rentals will be in HPER The new will location provide more parking and easier access to 4. rental equipment. In addition, free handouts on equipment resources and checklists are available. Rental hours will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and 12 noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Information on rentals and trips may be made by calling jDther activities scheduled for the fall are backpacking trips to southern Utah and the Uintahs, Petroglyph Photo Safari in the Uintah Basin and hiking trips. And when the snow starts to fall again, sign up for several y weekend ski trips.
