With a mix of youth and experience, the Miners, who are now coached by Dianne Vance, are a threat to win a 2A state title this season. Senior Jesse Davis anchors the team as the No. 1 singles player. A very consistent player, Davis is in his second year as the team's top seed. At No. 2 and No. 3 singles will be seniors Jon Manwaring and Peter Moran. The three singles players "are very close," according to Vance. "I think that it's probably the toughest top three singles seeds they've had in the program in three years, because there isn't a gap between the three players. ..All three of them are excellent" Jonathan Wade, one of eight freshman on the team, represented Park City at No. 3 singles in a recent match against Uinta. He is likely to see action at doubles in some matches this season. Against Uinta, juniors Spencer Goates and Zach Schultz played at No. 1 doubles, and identical twins Jackson Jones and Jess Jones played at No. 2 doubles. Other players who will see action in doubles this season are senior Eric Crum and junior Brandon Boggs. "I'm still trying to figure out the double teams," said Vance, who is in her first year coaching the boys after leading the Park City girls team to a state championship in the fall. "A lot of them haven't played a lot of doubles. As far as the strategy goes they're not that strong." 1 v ' 1 ' ..- y - . ;, , 1 V r' J c.' jK-7- ' r .
