Show The Park Record D Section A Thursday, April 1, 1993 D Page A5 Elections cancelled Mayor Brad Olch announced that he has cancelled this year's municipal election;, and named himself Exalted Mayor For Life. The three council seats that would have been up for election have been declared permanently vacant and the other two seats on the council have been declared completely irrelevant. When questioned about this unusual move, the Mayor's Press Secretary, Myles "Rasputin" Rademan, said only that "the outcome of the election was so obvious that there was no reason to waste the taxpayers' money printing ballots. Besides, the voters don't know what they want, anyway." The Mayor himself was unavailable for comment. City Attorney Jim Carter admitted that this was an unusual move under the Utah Constitution, but added, "What do I care, I've landed a great state job down in Salt Lake." The fate of other city staff members was not immediately known. No one at the Marsac Building would speak with reporters. Some fled when they saw reporters entering the building.
