V5etieral Manager J sita5Htafa7aia feasor t We thought briefly about fabricating a couple of police blotter incidents this week in the interest of spicing up the April Fools issue. However, as usual, there was no need. Truth is nearly always stranger than fiction. A fight broke out behind Pop Jenks just before the witching hour March 21. (Broke out being the operative term.) Police broke it up, but not before one of the combatants broke his ankle. He' was taken to the clinic for treatment of his injuries. One concerned citizen reported a suspicious person loitering around the parked cars in Swede Alley the same night around 2:30 a.m. An officer stopped to chat with the individual, who turned out to be waiting for his wife who had the keys to the car. The wife in question called the police three hours later to report she had become separated from her husband-whom she thought had the car keys-during the evening and had just realized her mistake. (Ooops.) She picked him up at six in the morning. A concerned citizen called police around 9:30 p.m. March 21 to report a suspicious smell coming from an uncertain location in the house. In the interest of being better safe than sorry, Mountain Fuel was sent to the scene. this isn't a sign of our commuter, over-insured lives....A Park City woman reported her car had been hit by an unknown yellow vehicle that left behind paint March 24. Because the incident could have occurred anywhere between Salt Lake City and Park Police Blotter The Radisson Hotel called police March 23 to report the theft of a large yellow van. The Utah Highway Patrol stopped the van in Salt Lake City later that day. The driver turned out to be a hotel employee; UHP verified that he had permission to use it and then sent him on his way. Another concerned citizen reported a suspicious vehicle lodged in a snowbank, with its engine running and lights still on, at three in the morning. The officer who arrived on the scene advised that the vehicle appeared to have rolled backward out of the driveway while the owner was asleep. (Just exactly where the owner was sleeping at the time remains unclear.) A bird on a wire? Employees of Utah Power & Light noticed two male individuals rifling through their belongings in their truck while they were stuck up on a pole March 23. When the UP&L guys got down, the two interlopers were (of course) gone, but they reported to police they weren't sure if anything else was. During that time, a complainant report a white compact car with four occupants in Swede Alley loading what appeared to be a street sign into the rear of the vehicle. They were gone when officers arrived on the scene. (It was probably just someone taking the "Main Street One-Way" sign which undoubtedly will become a collectable.) An officer who arrived on the scene of a loud party at the New Claim Condos at 3:12 a.m. March 27 was unable to tell the party-goers party-goers to "Cool it", because the music was too loud and they wouldn't open the door. Tersonatized In-home Tet Care PET SET 649-6423 Give blood, and give the gift of life Apr. 19 Spring is a time of renewal, and now is the time for us to renew our commitment to the Blood Assurance Program. Park City's Semi-Annual Blood Drive will be held Monday, April 19 from 3-8 p.m. at the Treasure Mountain Middle School. The Blood Assurance Program was started in 1989, and has helped several Park City residents. All of the blood we donate at our semiannual semi-annual drives (one in November, one in April) goes in to a "Park City account" at the Blood Bank. If you or one of your neighbors, needs a blood transfusion for any reason, you can receive it at no cost If you need blood in an emergency, you don't need to have your friends rush down to Salt Lake to donate-the donate-the blood is already there. . Donating blood is an easy, harmless process that takes approximately 20 minutes to complete-time enough for you to help sustain the life of someone in need of your particular blood type. Please plan to come on April 19 and share the gift of life. To help with the Blood Drive, or for more information on the Blood Assurance Program, , call Amy Regan at 649-4040 or IHC Blood Services at 321-1 150.
