Last week Fred Moore scored from center court to answer our questions about the NCAA tournament He was the first to call , and secure his free sandwich by correctly answering the full court questions. Fred knew that North Carolina was the team with the most consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances-19. He also knew the teams appearring from WAC. were New Mexico, BYU and Utah. And finally he knew Rick Majerus came from Bull State University before he came to the U of U. This week the sandwich will go to the person who has a foolish memory. Because next week is the week we all look forward to around here-April Fools-know any? If you're the first person to call us after 8 a.m. on the morning of publication and give us the correct answers, you win a free sandwich from the Main Street Deli at 525 Main Street. And we wish we were you because we work for the paper and we're not allowed to compete. Just go to the counter, after the paper with your name in it comes out and ask for your sandwich. Where else but Salt Lake County Animal Services can you find such fashionable animals? Animals, together with JC Penney models and fashions, will be on the "catwalk" Saturday, May 1, at the "Pets for Seniors" Spring Fashion Show fundraiser. A country style breakfast will be served followed by the fashion show and an animal education seminar. All proceeds from this event will go directly to the "Pets for Seniors" program which aids low income Senior Citizens with the costs of adopting a pet from Salt Lake County Animal Services central shelter 511 West 3900 South, and the north shelter at 890 North 300 West. The event is to celebrate Older Americans month and kick off National "Be Kind to Animals Week." U.S.U. Extension offers gardening shortcourse These festivities are beneficial to two special members of society, the homeless animals at the shelter in need of good homes, and low income senior citizens in need of providing a good home for a pet! Studies have shown that a pet can make a Senior Citizen happier, and healthier, as well as create feelings of responsibility, safety, and self-efficacy. self-efficacy. In addition, Salt Lake County Animal Services is always searching for good homes for our special friends here at the shelter. To make your reservations, call the education program at 264-2247, or come to the shelter at 511 West 3900 South. Ticket price is $10.00 per person. Tickets should be purchased in advance. This price includes a country style breakfast, fashion show, and education seminar. U.S.U. Extension Service is sponsoring a high altitude yard and garden shortcourse for the residents of Summit County. This short-course will cover a variety of topics including vegetable gardening, ornamental selection and care, turf grass establishment and care, and disease and pest control methods for your yard and garden. All information presented will be adapted for the high regions of Summit County. The three-week shortcourse is : scheduled for April 14, 21, and 28, with each session starting at 7 p.m. . The shortcourse will be located at the So. Summit County Services Building, 110 No. Main in Kamas. Cost of the shortcourse will be $5.00 which covers the cost of printed materials. Sparrowgrass sponsors another poetry contest Westminster Chamber Orchestra to play The Westminster Chamber Orchestra, under the baton of Music Director Jeff Manookian, will perform on Saturday, March 27 at 8:00 p.m. in the Jewett Center for the Performing Arts, 1250 East 1700 South. This conceit is open to the public at no charge. The Orchestra will play Symphony No. 1 by Gounod, Concert Piece by Schumann, Sea Mia Fiamma by Mozart and Symphony No. 1 by Beethoven. Gary Barnett is the piano soloist and Devon English Colby, the soprano soloist for this event. Does Your Heart Good. Contest closes May 31, 1993, but poets are encouraged to send their work as soon as possible. Poems entered in the contest also will be considered for publication in the Winter 1994 edition of Treasured Poems of America, a hardcover anthology to be published in December 1993.
