Winterer's classes are made up of 45 students. The classes have jumped head first into the local environment. Winterer is zeroing in on the student having a hands-on experience in helping the environment. Recent labs have given the students opportunities to build models of environmental problems that face our community. Models of soil pollution, sink holes, acid rain and pollution caused by fertilizers were constructed. In one of the most recent labs, students built a model of global warming. As a student, it is easier to learn by doing than just by hearing. The classes have been divided up into eight environmental committees. com-mittees. These groups consist of students who are interested in subjects such as school bulletin boards, Earth Day activities, car pool day, walking or biking day, recycling, tree planting, speaking to other classes about the environment and newspapers articles for the city and school. The students are motivated to make a difference in the environment any way they can. They are tired of watching the public cover their eyes and ears while the seas rise, the ozone depletes, animals become extinct, the air turns brown, oil slicks cover parts of the ocean, garbage pollutes the water and the land, recyclable products are thrown way and other environmental problems continue to grow and take over the planet They are working hard to change the environment and need everyone's help. It is easy to feel helpless when trying to solve such Fund-raiser for day care Total Energy Inc., a child care center located in Park City Community Church, is holding a fund-raiser to raise money for playground equipment The school is raffling off tickets for a quilt that features 120 squares of student-produced student-produced drawings, according to Terri Santy, day care owner. She enjoys skiing and volleyball. After she graduates, Johnson plans to major in biology and later works as an environmental lawyer. What's for school lunch? Park City School District lunch menu for March 26-3 1 . Friday, March 26 Hamburger or pizza, golden fries, fresh fruit and milk. Monday, March 29 Sloppy joes or turkey corn dog, garden salad, corn nibblets, cookie and milk. Tuesday, March 30 Chicken with rice pilaf or turkey corn dog with fries, chilled fruit and milk. Wednesday, March 31 Salad bar or turkey corn dog roll, chilled fruit, creamy pudding and chocolate milk. The school district is now participating in the American Heart Association Hearty School Lunch Program. This program is geared to reduce the fat content of lunches, for example, students can choose among one or two percent or whole milk. : A Y ,sr, .
