Show Lawrence F. Eckman Lawrence F. Eckman, contractor, civic leader and businessman, passed away at his home of natural causes on Sunday, Nov. 25, 1990. He was born June 8, 1912 in Bingham, to August and Ellen Benson Eckman, who died in the flu epidemic of 1918. Adopted by uncle and aunt, Edward and Martha Hellman Eckman of Murray. !;( v; ; i - :-, ' : Hospital. He was fund-raising chairman chair-man of the District Boy Scouts of America. While on the city council, he served serv-ed as chairman of the Bountiful City Power Commission, where he gave valuable assistance in acquiring electric elec-tric power for the City of Bountiful from the Bureau of Reclamation of the Colorado River Storage Project. He was a former member of Oakridge Country Club and Bountiful Lions Club. He also served on the Bountiful Planning Commission, where he was instrumental in acquiring land for the current Bountiful Civic Center, National Guard Facility and Bountiful Parks. Survivors include his wife, Ivy M. Nelson Eckman; sons, Larry, (wife Anne), Randy and daughter, Ruth Marie. Brothers: Albert Eckman and Royal Shields, preceded in death by Harvey and Leonard. Sisters: Lucille (husband Dominic Gamingasco), Louise Keller and La Vine Nemanic and was preceded in death by Josephine. Nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 1 a.m. in the Bountiful 16th Ward, 720 E. 550 N., Bountiful. Friends may call Wednesday, from 6-8 p.m. at the Lindquist's Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E.( Bountiful. Interment: Bountiful City Cemetery. He attended Jordan High School and graduated from Murray High School in 1931. He married Ivy M. kelson on Dec. 16, 1933. Worked as an agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance In-surance Company for nine years. In 1942 he moved to Bountiful, where he worked at Hill Air Force Base as a mechanic foreman during World War U. Started L.F. Eckman Construction Company in 1947. He has built many residential and commercial buildings along the Wasatch Front. He served as a Bountiful City councilman for 1 3 years and served as past president of Bountiful Rotary Club.
