Show Swimmers qualify for state The Wildcats will face West on Friday at 3:15 p.m. in the Bountiful Recreation Center. "It should be a close meet with West," Robinson said. "We have been swimming well, even though we have really small teams both for the boys and the girls. We're getting get-ting better all the time and hopefully hopeful-ly we'll be good enough in the end. ' State qualifying meets are held once a month through January. By JOHN W. CANNON BOUNTIFUL - Swim coach Jack Senninger reports that four of his Bountiful High School paddlers have qualified for the State Swim Meet. Jennifer Waterbury has earned starts in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard individual medley. Teammate Jenny Cook qualified in the 100-yard freestyle. Michael Jorgenson made the cut in the 500-yard freestyle, and Mark Hall qualified in the 100 yard backstroke. The Braves' next meet will be at Granite High School on Thursday at 3:15 p.m. Senninger predicted that individually in-dividually members of the team will do well, but because of the lack of overall depth in the events, they may fall short in the team standings. "Depth is a premium in swimming," swim-ming," said Senninger, "and we don't have any!" WOODS CROSS -- The Woods Cross swim team has qualified five athletes for the state meet, coach Lynn Robinson said. Paul Saunar qualified in the 100-yard 100-yard freestyle, while Ryan Muny streaked to berths in the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle events. Chris Fisher also qualified in the 500-yard freestyle. Jeff Midgley earned a starting place in the 100-yard backstroke and Scott McDonald qualified in both the 100-yard fly and the 100-yard 100-yard breast stroke. |
