Show Wyman appointed as medical director Sheriff Harry V. Jones announced announc-ed that Dr. Dennis Wyman, Lakeview Hospital, will become the Medical Director of the Sheriffs Emergency Medical Services. Dr. Wyman has been the physician physi-cian advisor to the County Paramedic Program for the past 12 years. Dr. Wyman will serve the county as medical director on a part-time basis. In his role as medical director, Dr. Wyman will develop medical protocols for paramedics and EMT's. He will advise the sheriffs countywide communication center on emergency medical dispatching and E911 procedures as well as train emergency medical dispatchers. dispatch-ers. Dr. Wyman will assist in developing de-veloping standards and testing criteria for the selection of future paramedics and EMTs. He will assist in evaluating medical programs pro-grams and the effectiveness of the use of program funds in achieving competency of personnel and pro gress of program goals. During a brief ceremony in Farm-ington. Farm-ington. Sheriff Jones thanked Dr. Wyman for his past years of service to the citizens of Davis County. Dr. Wyman was instrumental in developing de-veloping and establishing a quality, responsive paramedic program in Davis County. The sheriff presented a badge of office to Dr. Wyman, noting that there are still many challenges facing fac-ing emergency medical services in Davis County. As physician advisor to the paramedic program. Dr. Wyman was responsible for training county paramedics and ensuring the deliver of quality services. He is a member of the county emergency services council and was appointed county medical director last year. Dr. Wyman, a 39-year-old emergency room physician, has been practicing at Lakeview Hospital since 1977. He received his medical degree from the University Uni-versity of Vermont before moving to Utah. He is a board certified emergency room physician, a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and the National Association of EMS Physicians. In 1985 Dr. Wyman was recognized recog-nized by the state of Utah as EMS Physician of the Year. In 1986 he received the Governors Golden Key award for his work with the handicapped. hand-icapped. He is currently physician advisor to the Bountiful City Fire Department and the South Davis Fire District, One of his goals for 1990 is to bring br-ing together various components of the emergency medical system in Davis County. "By understanding the role paramedics, EMT's, law enforcement and firefighters perform per-form in our system, a better working work-ing relationship can be developed, which will ultimately lead to a higher quality of patient care in our county," he said. Dr. Wyman lives in Salt Lake City with his wife Jan and their two children.
