Mark Sheffield and Nathan Carr were thrown about 15 feet by the impact. They were treated and released from Lakeview Hospital. Two boys hit in crosswalk Two seventh grade students from Bountiful Junior High School were hit by a motorist as they crossed the street on 400 N. and Main Street in Bountiful last Wednesday. The youths, Mark Sheffield, and Nathan Carr, had just left the school and were near the center of the crosswalk when they were struck by a pickup truck. According to eye- witness Brandon Metcalf, who was just one step behind the the pair, the truck had passed through the intersection in-tersection heading west, made a U-tum U-tum and proceeded cast through the intersection. The boys were thrown about 15 feet by the impact. Both were . transported by ambulance to Lakeview Hospital where they were treated and released. Although the school crossing is patrolled by a crossing guard, the guard had already gone home at the Jime of the 3:06 p.m. accident. Investigation is continuing into the incident. |
