Show Opera's Phantom y'will haunt you By CHERIE HUBER One video that has real appeal right now is "Phantom of the Opera" with Nelson Eddy, Susanna Foster and Claude Rains. This is a 1943 film from Universal Pictures, from a time when they still made great movies. The story line is a retelling of the classic horror tale by Gaston Leroux. Claude Rains stars as the masked phantom, a crazed composer who works to make a beautiful young soprano into the star of the Paris Opera. This is a really great movie if you love opera, music and beauty. If you want to be scared to death, pick a different movie. This video was furnished by Adventureland Video next to Alpha Beta in Centerville. The folks there thought it was a great movie too. This is a good video to see and not just because of Halloween. "Phantom of the Opera" is called a honor tale. Actually it a beautiful show with beautiful music. The scarred face of the masked phantom is only shown once and by today's standards even that is not scary. ' |
