Show Three youths earn 2nd Lieutenant comm. Three Davis County residents are among 18 University of Utah students who were' commissioned as Second Lieutenants in the U.S. Army on June 9. The students received their commissions during a ceremony at Stilwell Field at Ft. Douglas, following successful completion of the University's ROTC program. Jeffery Michael Nelson, a 1985 Bountiful High: School graduate, will serve on active duty in the Medical Corps after completing medical school at the U. He is a 1989 graduate of the U. with a major in chemistry. Nelson is the son of Jerry and Linda Nelson, 830 E. 2300 S., Bountiful. He is a member of Scabbard Scab-bard and Blade Military Honor Society, Golden Key Honor Socie ty, and has received the Legion of Valor Bronze Cross and the Veterans Vet-erans of Foreign Wars Award. . Jeffrey D. Jacobson, a junior majoring in business and pharmacy, will serve in the Utah National Guard following completion of his - degree. . -v; 'r ');- Jacobson, a 1984 Viewmont High School graduate, is the son of David K. and Barbara B. Jacobson, 651 S. Island View Dr., Centerville. Jacobson is married to the former Lorilee Shaffer, and they have one child. . ,. Jonathan Taylor, a 1980 Woods Cross High School graduate, was also commissioned. He is a 1989 graduate of the U, with a major in Spanish. He will be attending Officers' Offi-cers' Basic Course in January, 1990 |
