The Utah Department of Transportation is laying seven miles of a smooth seal on roads throughout the Bountiful area. A new marking tape is being used which eliminates the need to paint the white lines. . 7? Highways and byways get facelift i By JANIS STUART BOUNTIFUL-Covering the ravages of winter damage to the roads in Bountiful has kept Utah Department of Transportation employees busy the last few weeks. New seal is being laid to improve road conditions at the cost of approximately ap-proximately $394,000. In all, seven miles of road will be covered with a new, smooth surface. sur-face. The area to be covered includes in-cludes Highway 89 from North Salt Lake,, north past Lee's Cafe.Also 1000 North from Orchard Drive West to the Freeway, the 1-15 exit . from the Valley Music Hall to In- terstate 89 and along 2nd West from . 400 North to 2600 South. f According to Gene Barrett of the State Roads Dept.,. "A new pavement pave-ment marking tape is being used in 7 place of white paint" He said that , this type of tape has been used previously on 1-15 from 2400 South . to 3300 South, and seems to be working well, The tape, will cost approximately $100,000, but it will eliminate the need to paint for at ' least five years. ' |
