Show Public opinion survey gives low marks to city officials By GARY R. BLODGETT WOODS CROSS - Public opinion opi-nion regarding city services offered to Woods Cross residents and the effectiveness of city officials in the performance of their duties - were . outlined in a survey released to the Woods Cross City Council last- V Tuesday night . .. : - - Sponsored by Woods Cross City, in cooperation with the Benchmark ' Economic Development Committee of south Davis County and Utah : State University, the survey gave relatively low marks to city officials while expressing approval of public - services being offered. i Fire protection, postal service ; . At the bottom of the list were road construction and maintenance, 38 percent; and control of alcohol and drug abuse, only 30 percent. ' In response to the question: How would you rank the following city officials and staff, the effectiveness ratings for the "city administrator were 4 percent 'excellent,V 33 percent per-cent "good," 20 percent "fair," and 5 percent "poor." A whopping 39 percent marked "Don't Know." For the City Council, the results were: . . For the mayor, the rankings were a little higher with 10 percent giv- " ing an "excellent" rating, 40 percent per-cent said "good," 18 percent rated him "fair," and 5 percent gave a ' 'poor rating. Twenty-seven per- cent marked "Don't Know." -On the subject of communications communica-tions between elected officials and citizens, only 1 percent gave an "excellent" rating; and 20 percent said.-communications were "good." " : ; After that, more than one-half the citizens responding to the survey said communications between city officials and the public was "were low expectations" with 35 percent rating it "fair" and 24 percent saying say-ing communications were "poor."
