Show Deadline set for veteran loans The time is growing short for veterans of World War II to use their eligibility for guaranteed guar-anteed loans for homes, farms or businesses, Elmer J. Smith, Manager of the Veterans Administration Ad-ministration Regional Office, Salt Lake City warned today. The final deadline for application applica-tion for a VA guaranteed loan is July 25, 1967. While over seven million veterans vet-erans had used their eligibility; to purchase homes, farms or'i start businesses, there were many still eligible who had not taken advantage of this provision. pro-vision. With less than eight months remaining for veterans to use their eligibility, Mr. Smith said that there had been! an upsurge in veteran loan ac-! tivity. The VA has guaranteed 6,-370,909 6,-370,909 home loans to veterans of World War II and the Korean Kor-ean Conflict. There have been a total of 238,752 business loans and 7,654 farm loans guaranteed under the program. Loans insured by the VA total $62 billion. In addition to the guaranteed guaran-teed loans, the VA has made 256,962 direct ' loans totaling $2.3 billion. These loans are made in areas where local financing fi-nancing is not available. Mr. Smith advised veterans of World War II planning to use this privilege not to wait until the last minute. Loans are arranged for by the builder build-er m most instances, but the guarantee can be used to purchase pur-chase existing homes as well as new homes. The July 25, 1967 deadliine does not apply to veterans of the Korean Conflict or veterans veter-ans who have served since January Jan-uary 31, 1955 and are includ-ed includ-ed under the new GI Bill. |
