Show 6S 5 Mapleton News j Mrs. Blake Everett Mapleton Jaycees announced the winners of their annual Christmas lighting con test. Sharing equal honors were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Canto, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Barker and Mr. and Mrs. Neil Whitiing. They "Iwere each presented with a case of oranges as a gift of appreciation ap-preciation from the club for helping to make the town more beautiful for the holidays. Quinten Lowe and Loris Diamond Dia-mond were the judges. The Mapleton Jaycees were ortin attendance at the Mapleton I utf iremen's meeting held Tuesday. :hPresident, Loris Diamond, pre-ousented pre-ousented a new resuscitator in behalf be-half of the club to Fire Chief ,Wave Miguel. He expressed his I appreciation to all of the firemen fire-men for the good work they are doing for the town, and his hope that this piece of equipment would be of help to -''Jthem in their work. He mentioned men-tioned that money for the re-"suscitator re-"suscitator was raised by a candy sale held early in the fall. He gave thanks to Rudy Carnesecca who was chairman of this priject and to Mr. Miguel Mi-guel who gave special assistance assis-tance in the project. Mr. Diamond Dia-mond said the people of the town are also to be congratulated congratu-lated for the way they supported sup-ported the sale. Mapleton Jaycees held their annual New Year's Eve dance in the Town Hall Saturday. During the evening a buffet supper was served to a large crowd. At midnight, noise makers, mak-ers, balloons, blowouts and hats were dropped from the ceiling to usher in the New Year. Officers in charge were Rodger Rod-ger Hutchings, Jessie Warren, Paul Hansen, Frank Carnesecca, Carnesec-ca, Floyd Lowe, Duane Bird and president Dutch Diamond. These officers wish to thank the lady Jaycees for the wonderful won-derful support they gave in making the evening a success. They also wish to thank president presi-dent Bob Snow and the Springville Spring-ville Jaycees for their attendance attend-ance and support, and want to invite them back next year. Sid Whiting spent the holidays holi-days at home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Whiting. He has been attending dental school at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. On Dec. 26, a family dinner was held with Mrs. Sylvia Crandall, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Warren, Mr. and Mrs. Alan Pennington, Lynette, Todd, Sid and Mr. and Mrs. Whiting attending. Other visitors at the Whiting home during the holidays were Rita Mae Whiting of Price and her brother, Ernest Whiting, who was home on leave from the California Institute of Technology. Technol-ogy. They enjoyed sleigh-riding in Maple Canyon with the rest of the Whiting family. Clara Gren is home after being be-ing treated for two and a half months at the Utah Valley Hospital and at Sunset Manor for a broken hip she received in October. Mabel Hopla spent Christmas in Las Vegas with her daughter daugh-ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Jones and family. She returned home Wednesday to spend the remainder of the holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hopla and two children who came from Vernal for a few days visit. |
