Show Springville man advanced at Y Cadet Thomas Tingey, son of Mrs. LeRoy Tingey, 203 Brook-side Brook-side Dr., will assume the position po-sition of Commander for the newly formed 8552nd AFROTC Cadet Group. Cadet Colonel Tingey has been participating in the Junior Officer Training Program in the 855th AFROTC Cadet Group. His promotion came as result of an expansion, announces Lt. Col. Paul A. Sharp, professor of Aerospace studies at BYU. The expansion of group organizations or-ganizations was made possible by the enrollment of over 400 cadents this semester at the Brigham Young University an increase of nearly 100 per cent over the previous semester. semes-ter. This makes the BYU unit the only AFROTC wing in the area (area H) comprising six intermountain states, and one of the few universities in the nation with a completely voluntary volun-tary program. The new wing will be composed com-posed of the 8551st and 8552nd Cadet Groups. Air Force ROTC will offer Cadet Colonel Tingey a commission com-mission as an Air Force second sec-ond lieutenant upon graduation in May 1966. Cadet Coionel Tingey is majoring in Math at BYU and his training in that field will be of great value in his chosen career field in the US Air Force, it is announced. |
