Junior Rifle Club wins trophies at Utah State gallery matches Representing the Springville-Mapleton Springville-Mapleton Junior Rifle Club at the Utah State Gallery Matches Match-es which were held April 2, 1966, at the Highland High School in Salt Lake City, were Steven Killpack, Gene Thorn, Karl Child and Ricky Newton. Trophies were awarded the first three places in each class in the indivdual matches and Ricky Newton won a first place in the standing and third place in the aggragate in the "C" class which consisted of juniors 13 years and younger. Steven, 'Gene and Karl, al though not winning any of the first three places in the "B" class which consisted of 14, 15 and 16 year olds, didn't place below fourth and fifth place in any of their events, and only missed third place by one or two points in some matches. Shooting together in the team event the boys placed third in the "B" class. Instructing the Springville-Mapleton Springville-Mapleton Junior Rifle Club this past year have been Garth Killpack, club leader, with Norman Barker and Dick Newton New-ton assisting him. |
