Show Mapleton News Mrs. Blake Everett Bishop Carlos Hjorth of the Second Ward, has as his new second counselor, John Davies, who succeeds Juan Whiting. Mr. Davies has been serving as president of the elder's quorum. Cindy Farnsworth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Verl Farnsworth Farns-worth spent several days visiting visit-ing with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cox, recently. Cindy lives in Heber, Utah. Esther Hurst has been in Salt Lake City the past week tending three of her grandchildren. grandchil-dren. Their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Ertel (Joan) were enjoying a vacation in Hawaii. They won the trip through the tire company he works for. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Davies had their family home during the Christmas holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Davies and four children of Fresno, came two days before Christmas and stayed until New Year's Day. They spent the time with the Davies and with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Max Packard of Springville. Other visitors at the Davies home were Mildred and Dean Haymond and three children of Idaho Falls, Idaho, who spent several days here. A family dinner during the holidays included in-cluded Mr. and Mrs. Kirk Davies Da-vies and family of Springville; Audrey and four children of Orem; Russell's fiance, Miss Janet Carter of Spanish Fork; and Mr and Mrs. Verl Davies of Mapleton. Another family dinner was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Verl Davies on New Year's Day. Following the dinner, din-ner, all of the families departed depart-ed for their various homes. Mr. and Mrs. Norris Binks attended a family party in Murray at the home of Orlando Erickson recently. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Lee Erickson, Erick-son, Mr. and Mrs. J. Arthur Kearns, Mrs. Glenna Clark, Mrs. Amy Erickson Mrs. Edith Erickson all of Salt Lake City. Following a lovely buffet supper, sup-per, they enjoyed films of Europe Eu-rope taken by the host and hostesses on a trip taken a year or two ago. They were especially interested in some taken of Sweden, which was the birthplace of their father, Carl W. Erickson, and of Denmark, Den-mark, were they visited many relatives of the family. The Binks were hosts at a family dinner at their home recently. re-cently. Mr. and Mrs. Blair Binks and family of Bountiful; Mr. and Mrs. Cornell Binks and family of Payson; and Mr. and Mrs. Glade Binks and family fam-ily of Springville, spent the day with them. Dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. LaVell Vird, Sunday, were Mrs. Bird's sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Arhtur Bonnie of Fairview; and another sister, Mrs. Fern Whitney of Springville. Spring-ville. Mrs. Merle Best returned to her home this week after undergoing un-dergoing major surgery at the Utah Valley Hospital a week ago. Her daughter, Evelyn, also al-so spent several days at the hospital being trated for dehydration. dehy-dration. Mrs. Iris Dibble is having a cast removed from her foot this week at the Cottonwood Hospital in Salt Lake, where she had foot surgery in December. De-cember. Mr. and Mrs. LaVell Bird are the grandparents of a baby girl born to Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Bird in California, recently. re-cently. Lillian and Ernest Binks, former residents of Mapleton, were happy about a new granddaughter grand-daughter born to their son Duane, and his wife, during the Christmas holidays. Other grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Owen Beardall of Springville. ,The baby has two brothers. |
