Show I Timp hike set August 6 - 7 will be honored by the hike committee, according to Dr. Israel Is-rael Heaton, chanrman of the hke. On the next morning some 2500 clmbers will assault the mountain, to be awardede Summit Sum-mit Club badges when they reach its 11,750 ffot peak. The hike is sponsored by the area community civic groups, peace officers and BYU. It has been a Utah County tradtion since the frst "community" hike was made in 1912. . . ... With weather and scheduling problems resolved, the annual Timpanogos Hike has been set for August 6-7. Originally slated for July 16-17, 16-17, the hike was postponer due to an exces of snow on the trail. Brigham Young Univeristy, community and United States Forest Service offcials have been trying to select a date that would not conflict with classes at the University or with plans of other groups who have arranged to use the Forest For-est Service facalties. A pre-hike program will begin be-gin the yearly event the evening eve-ning of August 6. The legend of the mountain will be told in the ampitheater at Aspen Grove and many of the hikers |
