Show Group returns from Oregon 'Rose Festival' Thirty-six senior citizens comprising a full bus, returned return-ed Thursday evening of last week from a delightful trip to the Rose festival in Portland, Port-land, Oreg., and down the coast to San Francisco. The first night was spent in Boise, Ida., from where they followed the historic Lewis-Clark Lewis-Clark trail through the mountains moun-tains and down sceiic Snake and Columbia rivers. They reported the Rose parade par-ade as a beautiful spectacle as was the Portland rose garden with 1200 varieties of roses. The Lambert gardens, the zoo and a new glass colosseum were interesting sights; also the submarines at the ship locks on the Williamette river. The trip through the Redwoods Red-woods was described as breathtaking. breath-taking. At Eureka, Calif., they visited the largest saw-mill in the worM. Two days in San Francisco with it? cubic cars find other sights proved interesting. From there, they traveled over Donner Pass, past beautiful Donner Lake and home by way of Reno. A fine bus driver and efficient effi-cient hostesses, Gwen Baxter and Odessa Childs, added to the enjoyment of the trip, it was reported. |
