Show Funds allocated tobacco problem The American Medical Association's Asso-ciation's tobacco and health research re-search program financed for $10,000,000, has just made its first ten grants seeking answers ans-wers to smoking problems. There is little question any more about the danger of lung cancer from tmoking, but there are still many phases of the smoking problem and much more information on lung cancer can-cer and other suspected diseases diseas-es that still have to be researched re-searched and documented. "The fiist grants will cover a wide range of research including: includ-ing: a defense system for cancer-producing substancas, study on how the li ngs clear foreign particles, -n.riables in smoking behavior, effects of nicotine on I the heart mur.cles, the pattern of nicotina excretion from the stomach and others. Meanwhile, the American Medical Association has just published a new and informative informa-tive phamphlet on "Smoking: Facts You Should Know." The pamphlet is being used by the Utah State Medical Association on a state-wide basis to inform young people on the health hazards of tobacco.
