Show Spawners yield 2 million eggs More than two million trout eggs have been taken from spawners now in the traps at Sheep Creek Lake, the department depart-ment of fish and game said today. to-day. The eggs, a real boon to perpetuating per-petuating the native trout in Utah waters, were the first to be taken at the lake since it was constructed by the department depart-ment several years ago for this purpose. To date some 1600 mature spawners have entered the traps and the egg taking operations op-erations are expected to continue con-tinue over the next several weeks. The eggs are now In the hatching trays at. the Whiterocks, Kamas and Spring-vine Spring-vine hatcheries where they will be processed prior to stocking as small fingerling into selected select-ed Utah waters. ( Sheep Creek Lake will remain re-main closed to fishing as it continues to be operated for native trout egg-taking purposes. |
