Show Crowd welcomes mission leader LDS ward and stake members mem-bers and friends from far and near, packed Springville Stake House Sunday evening, to welcome wel-come President and Mrs. Grant Thorn back from the Northeast North-east British LDS mission. One couple, Mr. and . Mrs. Alfred Swingard, whose son is serving in the mission, came by plane from Ann Arbor, Mich., for the meeting. Mr. Swingard is head of business research at the University of Michigan. i The Wayne Phelps family of Mesa, Ariz., came by plane to attend the welcome and hear about their son Steven, who was in the mission under President Pres-ident Thorn. President and Mrs. Thorn counted approximately 93 couples, all parents of boys who has served with them in the mission field. Many came from Idaho, Wyoming and all parts of Utah. There were nearly 150 former missionaries who had served under President Presi-dent Thorn on hand to welcome wel-come him home. When the family left England, Eng-land, a similar crowd of some 1100 missionaries and friends bid them farewell. |
