Show Recreation very important in Beaver County 'C " ' : Recreation is one of the most important industries of Beaver County, whose seat is Beaver City. The area got its name from the many beavers that inhabited the rivers in 1856. Some of these furry animals are still seen in the streams and lakes of the valley and mountains. The waters abound with trout, and many public campgrounds and picnic areas are maintained by the Forest Service for the convenience of those who desire these facilities. Geologic conditions of the Mineral Range have created a paradise for the rock hound. The Minersville Reservoir located within the Minersville State Park offers of-fers excellent water skiing, as well as fishing. For those who prefer to "rough it", many unimproved unim-proved areas are open to camping and picnicking. Here one can truly enjoy nature's out-of-doors. The Beaver area is known far and wide for it's excellent hunting. The annual deer hunt i in this area, both the special bow hunt, and the regular season is one of the most successful to be found anywhere. Sage hens, pheasants, ducks, geese, mourning doves and rabbits afford fine recreation for those who prefer hunting with a shotgun. Mountain lions, bob cats and coyotes add a touch of spice to the adventures of those hunting in the surrounding mountains. moun-tains. Adequate services are available to meet the requirements of those visiting the community. A newly asphalted, mile-long air strip can be used by any but the larger planes. There is a laundromat, a dry cleaning establishment, furniture stores, grocery stores, general merchandise stores, garages and service stations, hotels, motels and trailer parks, cafes, sporting goods stores, auto parts, a drug store and post office. The city has several city parks. Golfing at the Canyon Breeze Golf Course in Beaver is a family affair. The nine-hole course in the mouth of Beaver Canyon is open throughout the winter months. |
