Show v ' i Kristy Ann Newcomb Girl selected for competition CEDAR CITY Kristy Ann Newcomb, 16, has been selected for competition com-petition in the 1982 Teenworld State Finals to be conducted at the Four Seasons Hotel, St. George, at 7:30 p.m. June 26. Newcomb, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Newcomb, is sponsored by Garth Jones of Northeast Furniture, Dr. Ray E. Lunt, Brad Schmutz of ERA Realty and Dennis Newcomb. She is a student at Cedar High School and is active in junior varsity band and girls athletics. Teenworld has selected outstanding young women from all over the state to participate in the three days of activities, according to program officials. The program is designed to recognize i young women, 14 to 18 1 years old, who excel in scholastic achievement and community in-volvemnt. in-volvemnt. Contestants are judged on poise, personality, grooming and a speech or talent presentation, as well as scholastic and civic achievements. Entrants must have a B or better cumulative grade average and document at least 10 hours of volunteer service ser-vice to a community or charitable organization. The competition is the official state preliminary for the Teenworld National Finals to be conducted in December. Teenworld finalists from all 50 states will compete for over $56,000 in cash scholarships and tuition grants, a queen's wardrobe, a $2,000 personal per-sonal appearance contract! |
