Show Adams announces candidacy PAROWAN- Stephen R. Adams, Parowan, recently announced his candidacy for the Iron County School Board. Adams is seeking the seat tor Precinct No. 2-Parowan, 2-Parowan, Paragonah, Summit, and Brian Head being vacated by incumbent Glenn Halterman. Adams will be running against another Parowan resident, Joan Mor-tensen. Mor-tensen. Adams, an associate processor oi industrial education at Southern Utah State College, believes in the accountability ac-countability of all persons involved in the educational process. "I believe that parents should be more accountable ac-countable for the early training of their children which directly affects their classroom performance; per-formance; students should be more accountable ac-countable for their behavior and the manner in which they apply themselves in the learning lear-ning situation; teachers must be increasingly accountable for their work in the classroom; administrators, both at the local and district level, must be accountable ac-countable lor a sound curriculum and a controlled, con-trolled, disciplined learning atmosphere," Adams said. He feels the need for good communication between the school board and the people it serves, and if elected, plans to meet regularly with the faculty, staff and PTA to report board action as well as receive input from northern Iron County. Adams has an ex tensive background in education, including nine years in industrial arts classroom teaching and three years as a junior high school counselor in the public schools of southern California. This month he begins his 11th year as an SL'SC faculty member. He holds a BS from Utah State University, an MS from the University of California at Long Beach, and has earned pupil personnel and secondary administrative credentials from Pep-perdine Pep-perdine College |
