Show Taysom arraigned Susan Taysom was arraigned on charges of forgery and obtaining possession of a controlled substance by deception Tuesday in St. George. Miss Taysom was i arraigned in front of Fifth V District Judge J. Harlan . Burns. The arraignment took place in St. George alter Taysom's attorney failed to iippear at the scheduled ai i aignment in Parowan. Judge Burns and counsel lor both sides determined to have the arraignment in St. George rather than postpone the matter any further. In other court action, the case of the State of Utah vs. Clay Ivan Robinson, of Parowan, was continued. Robinson was arrested nearly a year ago for alleged automobile homocide. This trial date and two previous ones have been continued upon stipulation by Iron County Attorney James L. Shumate, who has filed an appeal in the Utah State Supreme Court on a ruling by Judge Burns concerning the admission of a blood-alcohol test performed on the defendant. Shumate indicated that he would not be prepared to go to trial until the Supreme Court ruling was made. In the case of the State of Utah vs. Larry Donald Gilliland, Gilliland was placed on two-year probation after being found guilty of forgery. One stipulation of the probation, set by Judge Burns, was that Gilliland spend one year in the Iron County Jail. Finally, Joseph A. Churchwell, who pled guilty last month to a charge of burglary, a third degree felony, was ordered to undergo a 90-day 90-day diagnostic evaluation before sentencing. |
