Show Dixie College News Students are continuing to register regis-ter at the Dixie college, but the enrolment is still far below normal. The curriculum, however, is being be-ing kept standard, so that those who attend can get a complete line-up with an undiminished faculty. fac-ulty. The students have arranged a fall hike to Pine Valley Friday afternoon and Saturday. Trucks will transport the hikers to the valley, where a campfire program will be held Friday evening. The following day a trek up the mountain moun-tain will be made. The opening social of the year was held last Friday in the recreation rec-reation hall. The faculty gave the assembly that morning, with all participating in the form of a vaudeville program. D. J. C. College visitors Monday were David Gourley, assistant superintendent super-intendent of public instruction for Utah, and Antone K. Romney, director di-rector of libraries and community-school community-school relations. The officials, together to-gether with Supt. Milton E. Moody, talked to the students in a special assembly that afternoon. D. J. C. The college Faculty Women's club will meet this afternoon at .4:30 in a business session. Plans will be laid for the student-patron get-acquainted tea to be held soon. In charge are: Mrs. John L. Clarke, president; Miss Linna Snow and Mrs. Ralph Huntsman, vice presidents; and Mrs. Milton E. Moody, secretary. Musical numbers will be given by Mrs. Janice Merrill and Ray Garner. D. J.C. Townspeople and students are taking advantage of the flying course being offered this year under the auspices of the college. Ground instruction, under Mr. Miles and Mr. Everett, is now being given. D. J. C. Miss Myrtle Henderson entertained enter-tained at a supper last Sunday in honor of Miss Ramona Wood, who is resigning as secretary at the college on Oct 1st. Mrs. Vivian Spencer is . also entertaining for Miss Wood Saturday evening. D.J.C Ray Garner and six F. F. A. boys attended the livestock show in Cedar City last Friday. |
