Show Edward Grant McMullin Marries Girl from Australia At Berkeley, Calif. Culmination of an interesting military mil-itary romance is told in the Aug. 20th marriage in Berkeley. Calif., of Edward Grant McMullin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Mc-i Mc-i Muliin of Leeds, and Miss Kathleen Kath-leen Boulton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Boulton, of Bris-zane, Bris-zane, Queensland, Australia. The ceremony was performed in the Berkeley ward chapel on the evening eve-ning of Aug. 20, by L.D.S. Bishop Denzil Allen, and was attended by a few intimate friends . Following the ceremony the couple were informally entertained entertain-ed at the home of friends in Berkeley, the couple spending several days touring the Coast before coming to Utah. Miss Boulton and Mr. McMullin met in Brisbane more than a year ago when the U. S. soldier was on U. S. military duty in that vicinity. With other Utahns, he attended the Brisbane branch M. I. A. where Miss Boulton was counselor in the presidency. Mr. McMullin was released several months later from military service serv-ice due to illness contracted in the Australian deseret, and returned re-turned to America. But the romance ro-mance survived, thanks to the U. S. and Australian postal service. serv-ice. Papers for Miss Boulton's emigration emi-gration were eventually prepared by Attorney E. J. Pickett in St. George, and were so complete in every detail, reported the bride, that the briefest time was necessary neces-sary in obtaining her passport, the accuracy of the papers being commended com-mended by the passport officials. She embarked July 30th for America, reaching San Francisco, Aug. 15, never seeing land en-route. en-route. Accompanying her on the exciting voyage was another Australian Aus-tralian girl, the daughter of an Australian M. D., who was also coming t o America, marriage bent, and she is now the bride of a U. S. Navy doctor in San Francisco. Miss Boulton became a member of the L. D. S. church in Brisbane, January, 1939. Before leaving her native Queensland, she was honored hon-ored with several social events. The Brisbane branch presenting her with a hand-carved serving tray of Australian wood. She is well acquainted with Mr. and Mrs. James Judd, who were in Australia on a mission. A wedding party was given by Mr. and Mrs. Edward McMullin, parents of the groom on the lawns of their Leeds home, Sept. 10th. Many friends and relatives from the surrounding towns attended, at-tended, presenting the couple with many gifts. They are making their home in Leeds. |
