Show LaYERKIN Pansy L. Hardy Reporter Ken Jones was a visitor here last week from Satl Lake City where he is attending school. Mr. and Mrs. Verl Sanders and baby were visitors here this week. Mr. and Mrs. Brigham Hardy are in Mesquite visiting. They were guests at a wedding anniversary anniver-sary dinner at Washington at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Iverson, who were entertaining in honor of Cpl. and Mrs. Malin Iverson. Mrs. Iverson is a daughter daugh-ter of the Hardy's. On Thursday evening the immediate im-mediate family and a few friends of Mrs. Sheldon Gifford entertained enter-tained in her honor at the home of Mrs. Harris Merrill. The event was her birthday anniversary. The speakers at Sacrament meeting were Mrs. Leonard Hardy and Mrs. Luther Fuller. Musical numbers were by Clarence Sanders, Sand-ers, accompanied by Thora Gub-ler Gub-ler and a violin solo by Afton Wilson accompanied by Quinta Nielson. Ward faculty meeting was held last Wednesday. Mrs. Paul Wilson Wil-son gave the lesson. She had just finished when word was brought that her husband, Seaman Paul Wilson had just arrived home. This is his first visit in some months. Cyrus Gifford spent last Wednesday Wed-nesday in Milford visiting with a group of boys who had been with Winferd at the time of his death. The boys had been wounded at the time Winferd received his wound which resulted in his death and have been hospitalized since. Now that they are ready for further fur-ther orders, they wished to visit with Mr. Gifford and exchange incidents which they had shared with his son. Beulah Pcctol left Thursday for Tonopah to be with her husband! who is stationed there at a gunnery gun-nery school. Fae Sanders, Venice Jones, Clara LeBaron, Garda DcMille and Ramona Gubler enjoyed an ice cream supper at the home of Fae Sanders on Monday. Joseph Gubler is ill at his home. Mr. and Mrs. Moroni Sanders made a trip recently into northern north-ern Utah and Idaho. The Primary conference for LaVerkin ward is scheduled for April 8th. The theme will be "Reverence for the House of the Lord." Relief Society conference was held Sunday evening, March II. On the program were the following follow-ing numbers: song, " America the Beautiful"; prayer, Ellen Woodbury; Wood-bury; song, "My Prayer." Songs were in charge of Areta Church, chorister with Pauline Wilson as accompanist. Bishop Lorin I). Squire talked on the Relief Soc- iety;, its first organization and a bishops appreciation for it. He stressed their loyalty and the part they are playing in the welfare program. Mrs. Ella Jones and daughter, Venice presented a skit on Relief Society work and the part it plays in helping a mother in her home, and in her advancement advance-ment thru its lessons. The ladies chorus sang "If It Could Be"; Inez Burgener talked on "Home, a Place of Encouragement."; the ladies chorus sang "The Prayer"; reading by Myrtle Gifford; and prayer by Rosalba Fuller. Visitors at the conference were Mrs. Hca-ton Hca-ton and Mr. Burgener of Hurricane. |
