Show Stockmen Classify Sires Of Herds In County A special delegation of local stockmen toured th herds of 14 beef stock growers of this county Tuesday for the purpose of classifying classi-fying the sires of the herds, reports re-ports Anson Call, county agent. Conducting the classification was Major George R. Henderson, animal husbandman of the extension exten-sion division of U. S. A. C, Logan. There were 35 to 45 men on the tour. The bulls were classified in the herds of E. J. Graff, LaVerkin; A. P. Spilsbury, Toquerville; E. S. Gardner, Pine Valley; Joseph T. Atkin, William P. Cottam, George H. Seegmiller, Clarence Force, Joseph Foremaster, Lee Esplin, Val Hafen, Paul Hafen and William Carter of St. George, Milton Burgess of Central and the Santa Clara Bull Association. Of the 63 bulls classified, three were labeled Grade A. Two of these belong to Paul Hafen and one to E. S. Gardner, states Mr. Call, who says also that the purpose pur-pose of the classification program is to improve the grade of cattle on the range. While the livestock men themselves are able to do the classifying, Mayor Henderson serves as a referee in making the decisions. A large group or livestock men assembled at the county court house Monday evening to outline their tour and discuss the day's program, says Mr. Call, and it is believed that much good may result re-sult from these tours, more of which will be taken later. . |
