Show Seen end Heard 'Round the Town By EDGAR Enterprise M-Men The Enterprise M-Men come up year after year with a fine M-Men basketball ..team.'. This .year; they garnered . two of the - 10:. honor positions named after the Church tourney. Grant Clove made the first team and Bob Barlocker placed on the second team. Grant placed as guard and Bob as center. cen-ter. . . Enterprise took the measure of Manila in a thrilling over-time period game 47-39 to win third place in the tourney. This is doing mighty well in any man's company, but when one considers the fact that so many of the wards have so many more men to make their selections from, Enterprise is to be congratulated congra-tulated on their fine showing. Hurricane F. F. A. Banquet It is always an inspiring sight to me to see these parent and son banquets such as the Hurricane F. F. A. banquet and the Fathers-Sons Fathers-Sons Scout banquet which was held in St. George recently. Each year these events seem to get bigger and better. The Hurricane event lends encouragement to the lads who are working under the leadership of Elmer Graff. . . Farming has come a long ways since man first started to get a living out of the soil, but it undoubtedly un-doubtedly will continue to develop de-velop new methods and sciences. Today it takes a smart man to be a successful farmer and the need for special knowledge and training will continue to increase as the farmers of the world raise the crops that are needed to feed the world correctly. . . Principal Prin-cipal Maurice Nuttal did a fine job of pinch hitting. His talk was short, but to the point with many fine ideas presented. Grandfather's Club I The St. George Rotary club now has a Grandfathers' club with j seven Rotarians signed up as charter members. While the club started off with seven of the I Rotarians eligible, it is doubt fuf if some of tin' members will bo j able to meet the requirements for sometime to come. First, you must be a grandfather and second, you must kick through with SI a pound or fract'nn thereof that the said gr.'dcbild weighs at birth. . . Firs! member and ! credit for originating the local club goes to Frank Edwards, i father-in-law of Mrs. Robert F. : Edwards. Frank is a member of i the San Francisco club No. 2. Second member of the club was; -Mayor : C. Watson, the other J grandfather of Robert F. Edwards .II. They ' contributed $6.25 each! as their membership fees. Joseph j J. Milne immediately came forth with ?10.02 as his membership fee, but after discussing the pros and cons the Rotarians decided to let all present grandfathers in . on the ground floor a I .S(.2.") each, j Future grandads to come in on I the pound basis. Those who took j advantage of the charter membership member-ship fee in addition to the three mentioned were: George Secgmil-ler. Secgmil-ler. Roy Williams. W. P.. Mathis and Wilford McArthur. Money j collected from this is to be used for such community projects as the club members may decide. |
