Mr. Covington returned last week from the Canadian mission mis-sion and Mr. Bradshaw from the California mission. Hal Bradshaw commented on the difference in the size of the Hurricane congregation and that of the mission field where the branches had only 15 to 75 members. mem-bers. In keeping with the Easter theme, he then spoke on the resurrection. res-urrection. Clell Covington reported h i s mission, saying that he spent the first nine months in the Netherlands Nether-lands and the rest in Canada. Before Be-fore he left the Netherlands, they had already practiced blackouts in protection from air raids, and war had really begun by the time he left. He was on the last ship-load of missionaries that left the Netherlands. He reported that church activities were somewhat limited by the government. They were permitted to hold only short street meetings, and at these could give only information, not preach their doctrine. Slides and tracting were their best means of contact with the people. Mr. Covington reported that there were approximately 3,000 L. D. S. church members in the Netherlands, many thriving wards, and a few chapels. |
