Show Explorations At IyIhs Dry Wash Reported Underway By Engineer Foundation explorations wen commenced Monday (April 13) al the Ivin's Dry Wash reservoir sit in Washington county under direction di-rection of the U. S. Bureau ol Reclamation, according to information infor-mation received by State Engineei T. H. Humpherys. Digging of test pits will b( carried out by WPA workers furnished fur-nished through the state engineer1! office: Six workers were requisitioned requisi-tioned to the job on Monday, anc will work under the formanshii of Clawson Frei of Santa Clare who was hired by the bureau. J. W. Cahoon, assistant engineei in charge of bureau investigations will direct the explorations. A detailed investigation of the reservoir site was made during the past few months by the bureau, bu-reau, and Mr. Humpherys visited the proposed site during the week and made final preparations for the foundation work. This project would furnish supplemental sup-plemental water for the communities communi-ties and farm lands along the lower Santa Clara creek Although the project would be located below the town of Ivins, much needed irrigation water could be furnished fur-nished that community through exchange with natural flow users located below the project, according accord-ing to the plan. The state engineer's estimates call for a dam of earth construction construc-tion 59 feet high, and estimated to cost $150,018. Firm storage and capacity for 1533 acre feet of water would be made available through the project. |
