Show Military Funeral Services Accorded George Stephen Jennings, Tues. ROCKVILLE, Utah. Full military mili-tary honors were accorded George Stephen Jennings, in connection with the funeral services held for him in the Rockville ward chapel with Bishop Heber Hirschi taking tak-ing charge. The chapel was packed to overflowing with relatives rela-tives and friends of the family including in-cluding a large representation from the Legion Auxiliary of Post No. 74 of Cedar City and the Hurricane Post, and highway officials. of-ficials. The rostrum was banked with floral tributes. Music numbers at the services included two vocal quartets, '"Somewhere", and "Say Not I Journey Alone", by Mrs. Newell XeMille, Mrs. Marvin Terry, Alma '.o and Garth Jones, with Mrs. 3cMillc singing the solo in the lilter number, and Mrs. Alice Jlallard accompanist; violin duet, 'Perfect Day", by Newell Do-JVIille Do-JVIille and Eldon Russell with man-clnlin man-clnlin accompaniment by Emerald Jennings; vocal duet, "Whispering "Whisper-ing 1 Tope", by Zona O'Brien and Ixii-raine Gale, and vocal solo, "'Sleep, Soldier Boy, Sleep", by Whit ford Gifford, accompanied by Verdon Allred of Sprindlae. iSjciiIiers Honor Deceased . Speakers included Grant Langs-i!on, Langs-i!on, counselor of the Rockville ibishopric; Elias Leigh, World War comrade, of Cedar City, who has Xicen in the Veteran's hospital the past two months along with Mr. Jennings; resolutions, Mrs. Frances Fran-ces Correy of the Cedar City Legion Leg-ion Auxiliary; Lorin Ilirschi, Cedar City and Boyd Dennett, St. fj.eorge, both formerly of, Rockville. Rock-ville. and companions of Mr. Jennings: Jenn-ings: LeRoy Davis, Ogden high-Viy high-Viy engineer and close associate Villi the deceased during the construction con-struction of the Zion-Mt. Carmel tunnel highway; Pres. Prayers were by Marvin Terry and Arthur Ox, with grave in the Rockville cemetery dedicated by Alvin All-red All-red of Springdale, who in behalf of the American Legion presented Mrs. Jennings with the American flag which draped the casket. The official salute to a deposed soldier was fired at the graveside by a squad of associate Legion-nares Legion-nares with taps played by Mace Graff of Hurricane and George Slack of Toquerville. |
