Show L. S. Gardner Called In On five-State Military Affairs Conference On Coast An a."'--nnu-nt to duty before the o!:uv to which he has been elected is actually in operation, is the honor extended this past week to K. S. Gardner of this city, recently re-cently elected to the Utah House of Representatives. Mr. Gardner was one of the four state representatives, who with four senators were called into special conference on military affairs held in California last week. Returning late Wednesday evening eve-ning from the Coast, Mr. Gardner Gard-ner reported this was the southwest south-west regional cnnfei tended on Tuesday in Los An-goles. An-goles. The five states included in this set-up are Utah, Nevada. Arizona, Ari-zona, New Mexico and California. The sessions were termed a council of states with the purpose of trying to harmonize general laws for the emergency, in order that the frequent conflicts may be overcome. Blackouts, highway laws, and several other measures were especially considered. The group from Utah included four senators, four representatives and the attorney general. It is expected this pre-legislative conference con-ference will materially assist the lawmakers when they assemble in January to take the necessary steps to meet the war time emergency.
