Show HURRICANE Mrs. Vernet Ilinton Reporter The Young Elizabeth Steele D. U. P. camp banqueted the departing depart-ing soldier boys in Hurricane Saturday Sat-urday night, with the American Legion Sterling Russell Post in charge of the banquet program. The boys who left Tuesday were Theron Leany, Kay Roundy, Ted Isom, Don Stout, Rodney Gibson, Justin Covington, David Wilson and Ray Porter. Dell Naegle is home on furlough. fur-lough. He has been stationed in New York. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Barnum were up from Mesquite, visiting Mrs. Chloe Beatty over Thanksgiving. Thanks-giving. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Robb of Cedar City and Florence Beatty Beat-ty of St. George were also home for Thanksgiving. R. D. Adams spent the week end at home. Stanley Hinton is home on furlough fur-lough from his military post at San Bernardino" Calif. Willard Humphries of Modena is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Humphries. Israel Hall returned to Salt Lake City after spending the week end at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lafe Hall. Sidney Isom came home from California, where she has been for several months. Ray Owens returned home Friday Fri-day from Arizona, where he has been on business. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Wadsworth were elected presidents of Hurricane Hurri-cane Lions and Leonas. Dorothy Webb returned Saturday Satur-day from Hill Field, and Salt Lake City to visit with her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn M. Webb. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Isom are spending ten days in Los Angeles. An-geles. The Alice Louise Reynolds club met at the home of Mrs. Grace Staheli with Mrs. Minnie Barrett as co-hostess. Mary Kleinman and Amelia Wilson gave the travelogues. travel-ogues. Refreshments Were served. Fred Slack has moved to Cedar City, where he has accepted the position of manager of the Southern South-ern Utah Power company. He has been manager for four years in Hurricane. The Lions club entertained en-tertained in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Slack, Dancing followed the banquet. " A baby clinic was held Thursday Thurs-day at the city hall under the direction di-rection of Dr. Mclntyre and Miss Uarda Knight, county school nurse. Mrs. Keith Hall arrived Saturday Satur-day from Salt Lake City to visit relatives. The stake M. I. A. board members mem-bers met conjointly Monday evening eve-ning at the home of Miss Vaun Sanders. Miss Sanders returned Tuesday from a two weeks' Coast vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Brooks spent last Saturday in St. George. Mrs. J. H. Riding returned Sunday Sun-day from a ten-day visit with her brother, Joseph Steel of Burbank, Calif." and her sister, Mrs. A. M. Johnson, of Los Angeles. Mr. and Mrs Cumon Stratton were St. George business visitors Saturday. George E. Miles of St. George was a dinner guest Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Howard How-ard Kleinman. Mrs. Ella J. Lund arrived Tuesday Tues-day from Salt Lake City to visit with her daughter, Mrs. Lamond Stratton. Mrs. W. E. Hall was advised by telegram recently that her son, Charles J. Large, has been wounded wound-ed while on military duty on the Solomon Islands. The H. H. S. senior play is scheduled for presentation Dec. 18 and 19 in the high school auditorium. audi-torium. Eldon Walker, Charlene and Florine Tweedie were St. George visitors Saturday. Paul Sullivan is attending the Ft. B e n n i n g officers' training school in Georgia. Mr. and Mrs. Arch Murphy have returned home from Provo where they have spent the summer. Mrs. Leo Reeve is in Salt Lake City receiving medical treatment. The Misses Barbara and Dorothy Dor-othy Hirschi have returned from Salt Lake City where Barbara has been for medical attention. Relatives in Hurricane have received re-ceived word of the death of Ozro DeMille at Hinckley, Dec. 8. Fun-' eral services will be held Thursday Thurs-day at 2 p. m., in the stake chapel. |
