Show Training Given Free To Women Needed As Helpers In Armed Forces Women are needed at once as civilian employees of the armed forces and, in many communities, as workers in war production plants. Training for these workers work-ers is provided through Federal grants and is free; short courses are offered, their length depending on the kind of work and degree of proficiency needed. The work is divided into three groups. Civilian employees of the armed forces are taught to overhaul over-haul and repair radios, telephones and light equipment for the Signal Sig-nal corps; to inspect ordnance material for the Ordnance Department; Depart-ment; to work in the laboratory for the Chemical Warfare division; divis-ion; or to assist journeymen mechanics me-chanics in the Navy. Work for women under government govern-ment supervision will be carefully planned to meet the needs of the employees. Included will be adequate ade-quate rest periods, proper diet, adequate medical care and other safeguards for health and safety, and assignments that will cause the least disruption in family life. |
