Show I BURNS CAUSE DEATH OF j CALVIN PEARCE FEB. 12 j Calvin Pearce, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Pearce, who resided re-sided in Dixie for a number of years, died February 12 at the Parker dam. Death came as the result of burns received on February Febru-ary 2 when a frame building was burned and several other men kill-ed. kill-ed. Mr. Pearce was born at Washington, Wash-ington, July 14, 1914. When a small boy his parents moved to Beaver. He was a member of the Beaver High school class of '32 and captain of the basketball team. When the fire broke out at the dam he was asleep on the second story of the building and was severely se-verely burned about chest, back, arms, hands and face, and escaped escap-ed only b jumping from a window win-dow of the building. His father, LaMar Pearce, and brother, Rex, were working at Boulder Dam when the accident occured and came to him immediately, immed-iately, but his mother was unable to go to him because of camping conditions. Funeral services were held in Beaver on Friday, February 14. He was buried in the Mountain View cemetery. I |
