Show mary McGregor receives one of the leading roles in b. y". u. annual opera Mary McGregor, student from 3t. George, was successful in winning win-ning one of the leading roles in the Brigham Young university annual an-nual opera, "Hansel and Gretel," it was announced this week by Professor Richard P. Condie, who will direct the production. Miss McGregor is a senior, and expects to be graduated this spring from the college of fine arts. While at the "Y" she has taken leading parts in several operas op-eras and plays. Last year she sang the role of Oheya's mother in Hanson's opera, "The Sun Dance." "Hansel and Gretel," which was written by Humperdinck, was first produced in Weiman, Germany, Ger-many, in 1893. Immediately afterwards aft-erwards it ran a rapid course throughout the music world, being be-ing produced in London, Munich, and other important cities in Europe. Eur-ope. It will be presented in College hall, March 12. |
